Atlantic Growth Capital focuses on investing in and partnering with businesses in Australia and New Zealand to support their growth and expansion plans.

We have a flexible mandate and partnership approach. We are able to participate as a significant minority or as a controlling shareholder on a case by case basis.

Our co-investors include highly successful Australian and international business leaders, and their family wealth offices.

Gregory Roberts-Baxter

Gregory has over 20 years of growth capital, board and business exit experience. Prior to Atlantic, Gregory founded the Australian operations of of health and consumer goods investor C2C Capital. He has growth investment and board experience spanning numerous sectors including lifestyle, consumer products, software, telecommunications, insurance, food manufacturing, fishing and financial services.

Dani has held senior executive positions in the private equity sector. His investment career includes over 20 years of private equity experience largely in Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. He has growth and special situations investment and board experience spanning numerous sectors including consumer products, retail, QSR, industrial, manufacturing, and essential services.  Experienced in fund and investment structuring and transaction execution, including post investment separation and integration.

David Smollan

David is the CEO of the Smollan Group, a retail solutions company providing a wide range of business services to brand owners and retailers. Founded in 1931, the Group has its origins in Field- marketing and has evolved to offer a diverse range of outsourced sales, marketing, technology and advisory services across multiple geographies, modern and general trade and e-commerce. The Group currently directly employs approximately 80,000 people through partnerships in Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Peter Cowan

Peter is an industry veteran in the FMCG space with leadership roles spanning 25 years in the Personal Care, Refreshments, Home Care, Dairy Products and Wine and Spirits sectors. Peter was formerly executive chairman and CEO of Unilever South Africa. Prior to that role he served in numerous leadership roles across the APAC region, including CEO of Unilever Philippines, Regional Vice President for APAC and Africa for Alberto Culver, Group Managing Director of Lion Nathan and Group Managing Director at the New Zealand Dairy Board (Fonterra) for their Consumer SBU. Peter has a successful track record on how to establish global category, brand and route to market footprints and is well recognized for building sustainable businesses.

Martin Drinkrow

Martin has over 25 years experience in local, regional & global FMCG leadership roles, with a breadth of category experience ranging from detergents, household cleaning, fabric conditioners, natural personal care, plastic bags & wraps and automotive care to health food, diet and sports nutrition. Martin was formerly GM Sports Nutrition & Health Food at Vitaco ANZ. Prior to that role, he lead Clorox across Australia, NZ and South Africa as GM, and before that, held several senior local, regional and global marketing leadership roles in Unilever and Clorox. Martin has a proven track record of delivering business growth, brand development and strong people, culture and capability development. Furthermore, his experience in, business integration and separation, combined with an ability to effectively lead remote teams across several geographies, means he is highly capable of building sustainable businesses.

George Roper

George acts as technology advisor and entrepreneur in residence for Atlantic Capital. George is a seasoned IT entrepreneur, having recently exited his technology business Pacific Health Dynamics. George is a qualified Chartered Accountant with more than two decades’ experience across various executive management roles. His background includes over 15 years in the technology industry, where he has been instrumental in various M&A transactions. He has consistently driven revenue growth, optimised operations, and maximised profitability for organisations ranging from startups to well established industry leaders.

Investment Criteria

  • Businesses seeking expansion capital and/or assistance to expand
  • Independent and challenger brands or products with differentiation or intellectual property, including brand value
  • Preference to support existing management and/or founders rather than provide buyout capital
  • We consider most sectors. We have significant domain expertise in the FMCG sector and a desire to support “better for you” category brands with a sustainable base
  • Seek significant minority to 100% stake with ideally part of the transaction focussing on new capital into the business to support growth
  • Businesses >$3m EBITDA
